Can't say much about the scratch factor, since mine is a striped tote, doesn't get scratched that easily. Most of my Chanel bags are in caviar and I have 2 that are in lambskin. I reach for the caviar more as I do find them more carefree compared to the lambskin. Lambskin is luxurious feeling but are prone to wrinkling, marks, corner wear, indentations, etc. I would go for the caviar only in both the classic and the boy bag. Lambskin is the ultimate in luxury but it does require more TLC. If you were rotating your bags on a regular basis then I would recommend lamb, but since you say that you want to use the bag for up to 3 months at a time, I would recommend caviar.
