The Seamaster Cosmic 2000 comes in two varieties - rotating bezel (this one) and fixed steel bezel, with most parts being identical and of course, interchangeable. The latter is more common and quite a bit less expensive to buy on the market.
They have a rotatable bezel, a necessary and classic safety feature on this type of watch. The bezel enables you to track how much time you've spent underwater. However, despite its looks, this version of the Cosmic 2000 has the same water resistance as the other watches in the 2000 series: 60 m (6 bar, 197 ft).Here is a wonderful, all original Omega Seamaster Cosmic 2000 from 1973 in a very large size for the era. The brushed silver dial is in fine condition, with a steel Omega logo and faceted steel hour markers with black contrast and lume dots at the outer ends, double at 12 o’clock.
And as to how the two case pieces are held together is via an o'ring; there is no bezel. If you look closely at the mid case you will notice a small groove. This is where the o'ring sits. Omega uses a replacement bezel with a sliiiightly different font and materials. It's also non-lume. The original bezel was pretty easily damaged I guess (literally every Cosmic w/ original bezel I've seen has similar damage to yours) but the replacement looks a tiny bit duller. May 21, 2009.
